Memoirs of a Gheisha

¨Can’t you see? Every step I have taken, since I was that child on the bridge, has been to bring myself closer to you.¨

-Sayuri Nitta

This movie is absolutely stunning visually. I have never seen a movie as beautifully done in terms of cinematography. Before commenting on any other aspect of it. Let me confess, at times I was just watching scenes which distracted me from listening to dialogs carefully. Sets were all very carefully done and some of these were enormous in size, lot of money flowing was clearly visible

Love story in the most romantic form possible. It is more of a fairy-tale kind of thing and nothing extraordinary about it. Except it´s visual appeal, movie doesn´t have much to offer in terms of plot and storyline. You must watch it for the sake of watching it. The whole concept of depiction is in some other world itself, which doesn´t look real by any chance. Bottomline is-It is an eye candy, go and get it!

  1. Surprising me when you picked the sentence, which I wrote down as well in front of fiction: Memoir of a Geisha

However, I’d love to read the story again and again but will never touch the movie any more which is for me totally disappointed.

  2. I thought this was the best story Ive seen On tv I was absolutely obsessed with this film I watched it over and over and am still not sick of it.I dont think it had enough awards I think it deserves an Oscar! For sure!

  3. Hi

I love the book and this movie.. Absolutely amazing.. I was fortunate enough to read the book and watch the movie whilst I was on a working holiday in Japan.

Does anybody know where the scene of her losing her scarf is shot towards the end after she gets caught with the American general?? I want to go there.. it looks incredible.. I got so lost in that book/movie!

    Thanks
    Kathy
